Following are direct links to major on line publishers that produce books offered on the internet. We catalog the books from these publishers just as fast as we can, but we are always a little out of date and we may have missed a title or two along the way.
Bibliomania "Bibliomania." a love of books pursued to the point of unreason or madness. Reference/Fiction/Non-Fiction/Poetry.
Project Gutenberg The grandfather of electronic publishing, as they put it: "Fine Literature Digitally Re-Published." Project Gutenberg started the whole thing, one of the biggest sites, unfortunately they do books in text rather than HTML.
The Internet Public Library A site offering an awful lot of books -- if one of our links is bad go here and you might find the book. On the other hand it is difficult to find your way around this site.
The Online Books Page Another site offering an awful lot of books -- if one of our links is bad go here and you might find the book. On the other hand it is difficult to find your way around this site.
eBookNet a site oriented to the new electronic books (hardware LCD panel readers) that are just coming out. In addition they publish some titles of their own.
Library of Congress In addition to the renown catalog, the LOC publishes a lot of books on line. It's kind of hard to find the books on their site however. A good place to start is American Memory, the National Digital Library.
Mountain Men Devoted to the history, traditions, tools, and mode of living of the trappers, explorers, and traders known as the mountain men.
National Academy Press Reading Room A thousand or so titles on many subjects. Well indexed and a good search engine.
InformIt This is the same Que that does a lot of computer books. They do a lot of books on line. These are often the same books that you buy but may be earlier editions. Unfortunately their site is extremely difficult to get around. The search engine is probably your best bet.
University of Michigan Digital Library A major publisher of on line books. Books are published in several areas including the Making of America series which has done a lot of books on American History.
US Army - Center for Military History They put a lot of military history on line, including the official history series and a number of other titles.
US Army - Tradoc The TRAining and DOCtrine command of the Army publishes hundreds, if not thousands of Field Manuals on everything from how to feed 10,000 people to repairing your tank.
Campusbooks Campusbooks.com provides a powerful search engine which searches dozens of online bookstores to find you the lowest price on new and used college textbooks. This site is professionally designed and has many textbook-related resources.
