Movie Script - Several drafts of the screenplay, illustrating the development of the original movie from concept to finished product, quite different than the movie turned out to be. Movie Description (I wonder if this is really necessary, I suppose there are twenty people out there who haven't seen it.): Part IV in a George Lucas epic, Star Wars: A New Hope opens with a rebel ship being boarded by the tyrannical Darth Vader. The plot then follows the life of a simple farmboy, Luke Skywalker, as he and his newly met allies (Han Solo, Chewbacca, Ben Kenobi, C-3PO, R2-D2) attempt to rescue a rebel leader, Princess Leia, from the clutches of the Empire. The conclusion is culminated as the Rebels, including Skywalker and flying ace Wedge Antilles make an attack on the Empires most powerful and ominous weapon, the Death Star. The Pre-Draft or Treatment is a short description of the story and the concept of the movie. The first draft of the script talks of Annikin Starkiller, his "lasersword," his brother Deak, and more. The story has faint resemblence to the movie. Version 1.5 (where the hero is named 'JUSTIN VALOR'), Second and Third drafts get much closer, and it is fascinating to see the evolution. Notice also how long it took to get the movie made. The first Pre-Draft is dated May 1973, it was released on January 31, 1977. |
